22 Feb 12 | GALL Park will undergo a major facelift this year thanks to a $100,000 State Government grant. Recreation and Sport Minister Tom Kenyon announced last week that 77 community sporting groups across SA had been successful in their applications for financial assistance.

15 Feb 12 | ROBE District Council and its community are farewelling their popular CEO after four successful years. Credited with turning around the troubled council's finances after taking over a listing ship, Bill Hender will be "sorely missed" when he retires in about six-eight weeks.
Stop the Carnage
08 Feb 12 | ROBE last week awoke to a scene of destruction with the streets of the charming seaside town left as if a "tornado" had swept through in the early hours of the morning. Business owners were devastated to be met with what was described as a "path of destruction" in the heart of Robe on January 31. Plants were ripped from their pots and strewn across the pavement, bins were tipped over and left in the middle of the road and vehicles were also damaged or vandalised.
01 Feb 12 | THE Kingston community gathered at the Lions Park last Th ursday to celebrate the country’s “national day of celebration”. Australia Day in Kingston was celebrated like never before, with markets, entertainment, breakfast and lunch for the community. The event drew a crowd estimated well over 350 people. In Robe the Robe community gathered at the Robe institute to commemorate Australia's national day and acknowledge individuals who "make a difference" in the town.
Boat Show Bonanza
25 Jan 12 | THE heart of Robe showcased its "world class marina" for people who came from near and far for the biggest boat and fishing show the southern coast of Australia has seen. The Great Southern Ocean Boat and Fishing Show last weekend drew crowds of celebrities, tourists and locals. The official opening on Friday by mayor Peter Riseley was followed by a grand parade and dinner aboard professional fishing boats for a limited number of lucky diners.
Kingston Invitational invites blue skies
18 Jan 12 | IT was nothing but blue skies for the Kingston Caravan Park invitation fours tournament last Friday. Kingston Bowling Club vice president Maureen Saunderson welcomed 22 teams from 14 clubs from around the SE.
Get ready for a big show
18 Jan 12 | ROBE is only days away from showcasing its "world class marina" at the inaugural Great Southern Ocean Boat and Fishing Show. It will be the biggest boat and fishing show along the southern coast of Australia, and will be attracting people "from far and wide", from Friday to Sunday. Jointly coordinated by the District Council of Robe and consultant Jamie Aitken, the free event will have a strong focus on the Robe community.

Boatswain bust-up
18 Jan 12 | A QUEST to reduce vehicle access to the beach at Boatswain Point has failed after meeting stern opposition from permanent residents of the tiny coastal town. A small group of Boatswain Point property owners petitioned Robe District Council to close some access tracks to the beach for environmental and accident risk reasons - singling out the track from Cape Thomas Dr to the beach - but a strong community response quashed the idea.
11 Jan 12 | SWIMMERS, surfers and other ocean users should be on high alert, with shark sightings and even encounters becoming more common in local waters. Just days after Naracoorte man Ben Bull was attacked by a bronze whaler shark past the Granites Rocks, two Victorian fishermen had a somewhat "friendly encounter" with an 8-9 foot great white shark.
11 Jan 12 | IT was all over in a matter of seconds, but Ben Bull will remember his painful encounter with a bronze whaler shark for the rest of his life. The Naracoorte local is still recovering from a savage New Year's Eve shark attack near Kingston which left him with nearly 40 stitches in his right leg.
11 Jan 12 | TWO water bombers and a host of CFS trucks and and personnel fought a large fire at Robe in 30 degree heat on New Year’s Day aft er a blaze was accidentally started by a marine flare. While the 40 acres burned in the fire was only scrubland near Robe St and Beacon Hill Rd and there was no major property loss, Robe CFS group offi cer Brian Kirkland said it could easily have been much worse and the safety of residents could have been threatened if weather conditions changed.

21 Dec 11 | MAHALIA Coffee just keeps putting Limestone Coast produce on the map. The Robe-based business collected yet another accolade when it took home the gold at this year’s CSR Sugar Golden Bean Roaster Competition.
School's Final goodbye
19 Dec 11 | AFTER 46 years of education, Salt Creek Primary School staff and students bid one another adieu for the last time on Sunday. Past and present students, staff, families and friends reminisced and commemorated the primary school located in the heart of the Coorong.
