ROBE is only days away from showcasing its "world class marina" at the inaugural Great Southern Ocean Boat and Fishing Show.
It will be the biggest boat and fishing show along the southern coast of Australia, and will be attracting people "from far and wide", from Friday to Sunday.
Jointly coordinated by the District Council of Robe and consultant Jamie Aitken, the free event will have a strong focus on the Robe community.
"There is currently nothing like this along our coastline, which shows the breadth and scope of the event," Jamie said.
"We have really embraced the community groups, and encouraged them to have as much involvement as possible during the event."
The event will offer professional and amateur fishermen and water sport enthusiasts a vast array of activities and products.
"There will be 12 boats in the water and 10 on the hard stands during the weekend," Jamie said.
"You can wander out and go for a spin around the bay...have a test drive and maybe even a fish.
"Robe Community Bendigo Bank, who are the major sponsor of the boat show, will be on site to help you make your purchases.
"Other sponsors include SE Excavations, Access Planning and Coopers.
"There will be an extensive range of fishing tackle and mandatory electronics. Kayaks and jet skis will also be on show, with test drives and paddles available."
There will be two unique boats on display over the weekend, including the Australian Speed Boat Champion "Miss Cindy", owned and restored by Dennis Boundy.
A unique experience will take place in the marina on Friday night, with about 70 people dining on board professional fishing boats.
"At $88 per head, and with donations of wine from the local wineries including Penfolds, and crayfish from the Robe Professional Fisherman's Association, all proceeds from the dinner will go to charities chosen by the skippers."
Eight local fishermen have generously allowed their boats to be used for the dinners and will be onboard to regale stories of the sea.
Community groups including the Robe Lions Club, netball club and Sport and Recreation Association will be involved in providing a variety of food at the show.
Music will be provided by Elijah Maddern, Jon Peters and Warnambool band Crooked Rook.
Local eateries will also be catering at the event, including ABC Catering (Adam Brooks), Seafood Temptations, Vic Street Pizzeria, Mahalia Coffee and Paul Birchell with the Regional Chefs Group.
There will be plenty of local wines available with Karatta, Cape Jaffa, Wangolina Station, Governor Robe, Wehl's Mount Benson and Cape Thomas showcasing their latest vintages.
Coopers beer and cider from the Aussie Cider Co will also be available.
