<description><![CDATA[ROBE last week awoke to a scene of destruction with the streets of the charming seaside town left as if a "tornado" had swept through in the early hours of the morning.  
Business owners were devastated to be met with what was described as a "path of destruction" in the heart of Robe on January 31. 
Plants were ripped from their pots and strewn across the pavement, bins were tipped over and left in the middle of the road and vehicles were also damaged or vandalised.

The Great Southern Ocean Boat and Fishing Show last weekend drew crowds of celebrities, tourists and locals.
The official opening on Friday by mayor Peter Riseley was followed by a grand parade and dinner aboard professional fishing boats for a limited number of lucky diners.

A small group of Boatswain Point property owners petitioned Robe District Council to close some access tracks to the beach for environmental and accident risk reasons - singling out the track from Cape Thomas Dr to the beach - but a strong community response quashed the idea.

<description><![CDATA[TWO water bombers and a host of CFS trucks and and personnel fought a large fire at Robe in 30 degree heat on New Year’s Day aft er a blaze was accidentally started by a marine flare. 
While the 40 acres burned in the fire was only scrubland near Robe St and Beacon Hill Rd and there was no major property loss, Robe CFS group offi cer Brian Kirkland
said it could easily have been much worse and the safety of residents could have been threatened if weather conditions changed.
