It was a positive atmosphere in the rooms before the game, having 20 players available certainly contributed to the excitement. Quite possibly the president’s letter to the local lads may have helped.
The pregame build up was excellent, it seemed that the boys were ready for a good performance. As in previous games the effort and desire for the footy was impressive, but also just like in previous games, too often we wasted the ball.
As the game progressed, this problem got worse, the resulting turn overs causing our guys to be out of position and allowing the Hatherleigh guys plenty of space to work in and time to hit their team mates with pinpoint accuracy, and the scoring zone. Dingo as his men are aware of the problem, time on the training track should fix it.
The positives for us were the number of players that put their hand up, and the fact that they didn’t give up; they kept having a go; responding to a last quarter request to double their score.
This week hopefully we have the same numbers, same desire and effort, but less turnovers. Then hopefully a long awaited win will come our way.
Better players (not necessarily in order) were Sam Stoious, Dewy, Scott O’Dea, Bados, and James Matthews. Our only goal scorer was big Matty Nicolle with 2.
Finally all the best to Hummer, who played his last game for us for sometime, he is heading to N.Z. to further develop his culinary skills. All the best big fella!
