R U OK? Day this Thursday is a national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that we’ve all got what it takes to ask, “are you ok?” and support those struggling with life.
The day is about inspiring people to start these conversations every day of the year.
R U OK?'s vision is a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. The mission is to inspire everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life.
By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member or friend open up.
Member of the Kingston and Robe Mental Health Support Group Valma Aylesbury said: “R U OK? Day is checking with your family and friends to see if they are ok, particularly if you know someone who is struggling.
“It is important if you ask if someone is ok and to listen without judgement.
“If you are worried about someone ring them back later and keep in contact.
“Don’t just do it on R U OK? Day, ask any time of the year.”
