Mitchell Angel makes state team.
Westwood Ho Golf Club hosted the 2017 Sapsasa Golf Championships on Day 1.
A nice sunny day greeted 147 juniors from around the state.
All junior golfers from Metropolitan Divisions played in the morning.
In the Afternoon it was the Country golfers turn. There was 101 players competing.
Mitchell came 3rd which is fantastic and he was awarded the Bronze Medal.
He is eligible to play in next years competition.
A Total of 147 Players from Metropolitan and Country played. Mitchell came in 7th overall
Close to 1,000 students from 270 primary schools played qualifying rounds during June and August to get this far.
Top 44 players from Metropolitan and Country Championship will play in the State Final on day 2
Cut off for this event was 75.... Mitchell scored 63. Winner on the day had a score of 60.
Day 2 saw the top players play 18 holes at the Adelaide Shores Golf Club.
A warm but overcast day, with windy conditions and faster greens made it tricky for some.
A total of 44 players from Metro and Country played in this event.
Mitchell came 15th with a score of 106.
Getting stuck in many bunkers didn’t help his score.
Winner on the day scored a 77.
After 2 days of championships scores where combined to pick the state team.
Mitchell made the SAPSASA state team and will play in the School Sport Australia 12 and Under Golf Championships.
For the first time golf will be played at the Pacific School Games.
These games provides opportunities for around 4000 school-aged students to participate in 11 different sports at the highest level.
It is the flagship event of School Sport Australia.
Students aged between 10 – 19 years from at least 15 countries, including every Australian State and Territory, will compete from December 3 – 9, 2017.
The highlight of these games is the Opening Ceremony on Sunday the 3rd at Adelaide Showgrounds.
