Preparations are underway for the 2017 Robe Mayoral Christmas Parade.
The parade will be held on December 23 starting at 4.30pm from Victoria Street and finishing at the foreshore in front of the Institute Hall.
The parade evening will have photos with Santa, community carols, Robe Lions barbecue, a performance by the Naracoorte Pipe Band, jumping castle, face painting, licensed bar facilities and presentation of award winners.
Last year’s community involvement was fantastic, Victoria Street was lined with spectators watching almost 30 floats go past and the committee is hoping to achieve those same numbers again this year.
Registrations for floats are now open and entry forms can be collected from Bendigo Bank or the Robe Visitor Information Centre.
“There are some great prizes up for grabs,” said branch manager Tracey Long.
“I know Tegan Allwright from The Fitness Hub will be looking to make a win trifecta as they have won back to back best float the last two years.
“Registrations for ‘Light Up Robe’ are also open with cash prizes of $400 up for grabs for the winners.”
Tickets for the infamous sled raffle will be on sale from November 1 and any donations can be handed in at Bendigo Bank, with winners drawn after the parade.
“We’ve always had great support from the community with donations towards prizes and the sled raffle which allows us to put on this free community event each year for everyone to celebrate the spirit of Christmas,” said Tracey.
“If anyone would like to make a donation to this year’s Christmas Parade then people can visit myself at Bendigo Bank, any donation would be greatly appreciated.
“Stephen and Susie from South East Excavations have always generously donated to the parade and will again be this year’s gold sponsor.”
