Kangaroo Inn Area School (KIAS) has put an idea forward for the ‘Fund My Neighbourhood’ campaign.

The school is seeking $30,000 to replace the fence at KIAS.

The school is located amongst scrub and farming land and it is bordered by two roads carrying cars travelling at 80km an hour.

The risk of children accessing the road is a real and potential disaster with sections of fence in disrepair.

KIAS governing council member Emily Hassell said: “We need funding to make the boundary safe and more aesthetically pleasing.

“This will contribute to school and community pride.

“Replacing the fence makes the community safer. It has positive impacts for students and teachers, recreational users, road-users and those using the hall as a dedicated fire refuge.

“In order to be successful with achieving a portion of the state government funding we would need to have a high percentage of votes from individuals in our area.

“We would be very grateful if people were able to include our idea in their list or 3-5.

“We would love everyone to vote for our idea, but hope to encourage people to vote regardless so that some of this funding will find its way to our region.

“There are some fabulous local ideas on the site, I encourage everyone to check it out.”
