Kingston District Council has approved a series of rate rebates for various community groups at their last council meeting.

In accordance with the Local Government Act, the council is required to provide mandatory rebate of rate for health services, community services, religious purposes, public cemeteries, educational services and the Royal Zoological Society of SA.

The following groups were approved for a 100 per cent rebate:

  • Kingston/Robe Health Advisory Council Inc – Hospital
  • Lutheran Church of SA
  • Uniting Church of  Aus
  • Kingston SE New Life Centre
  • Catholic Church Endowment Society
  • Synod Diocese Murray Anglican Church

As well as a 75 per cent rebate for the following:

  • Access 2 Place Ltd
  • Kingston Kindergarten
  • Kingston/Robe Health Advisory Council Inc – Lighthouse Lodge

The council also approved 100 per cent rebates “on the basis that the organisations provide a benefit or service to the community” for the following groups:

  • Kingston Golf Club Inc
  • Kingston Bowling Club Inc
  •  Kingston Masonic Lodge Inc
  •  Kingston Pony Club Inc
  •  Kingston SE Tennis Club
  •  Curkpatrick Memorial Park Inc
  •  Kingston Servicemen’s Memorial – Kingston RSL
  •  Marcollat Progress Association
  •   Kungari Association
  •  Limestone Coast Health

The Kingston kindergarten and Kingston/Robe Health Advisory Council Inc (Lighthouse Lodge) were granted their mandatory 75 percent rebate, as well as a 25 per cent discretionary rate, on the basis that the “land is being used for educations purposes and providing accommodation for the aged and disabled” via a residential care facility.
