One of the matches of the season so far will take place in round 9 of KNTFL football.
Penola v Kaniva/Leeor United. Top team versus number 2 team, this will be a vital result for the shape of the top three. Penola suffered a shock loss last week and won’t want to make it two in a row, but KLU will probably be favourites.
Penola has a few handy ins this week with Luke Walker, Tom Williams and Spencer Jackman named to return, and that will certainly help the Eagles’ cause. KLU will be very keen to claim a big scalp and will head to Penola looking to make a statement.
Mundulla v Padthaway. Another cracking game, particularly after Padthaway’s win over Penola last week. They also have full forward Lochie Eats and rover Isaac Noles back for this one.
Mundulla has been very solid and still might deserve favouritism at home. Boyd Packer and key defender Matt Schilling are back in, while unfortunately durable veteran Heath Thorpe is out.
B/Districts v Bordertown. A real toss of the coin this one. Bordertown have been solid, but Border Districts have been consistently good in recent weeks and should get the points. Both sides will be seeking their third win for the year, which would be a good effort for either based on last year’s results.
Kyby v Lucindale. These sides always have a great battle and this will be no different. Lucindale will be favourites despite missing a few good players, while Kyby also has injury concerns but played better last week and will run it right up to the Roos.
Lucindale has lost dangerous forward Angus Eckermann but interestingly has named recruit Aaron Fielke for the first time this season.
Kingston v Naracoorte. Both sides have played good footy, but Naracoorte is in the better form at the moment and should win. Kingston gets back utility Tyler Baker from injury, while Naracoorte loses rover Robert Jones.
