Update: Missing man found safe

Police are happy to advise that missing Millicent man, Michael Reid, was located safe this afternoon. He has been taken to the local hospital for treatment of dehydration.

Police know the importance of locating someone as quickly as possible in order to minimise the trauma and anxiety for loved ones, and as such encourage friends or relatives to contact police as soon as they become concerned about someone who is missing (you do NOT have to wait 24 hours before reporting someone missing).

Police and emergency services continue the search near Millicent for missing man Michael Reid this afternoon and report that his car has been located.

About 10.15pm Tuesday June 12, police were called to the National Park after a relative contacted police stating they had received a phone call from the missing man saying he had had car trouble.

Police and SES crews commenced searching for Michael Reid, 37, and his black 4WD Landrover Discovery, Victorian registration 1ED9SX, last night however called off the search around 4.30am Wednesday June 13.

Just before 1pm this afternoon, Wednesday June 13, Michael Reid’s abandoned car was located in the vicinity of the Whale Rock lookout in the Canunda Nation Park. The search for Mr Reid continues and police still hold concern for his welfare.

Further resources including PolAir and Primary Industries have been deployed to the area. Anyone who spots Michael Reid is asked to contact the Police Assistance line immediately on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000).

ORIGINAL: Police are concerned for the welfare of a man lost in the Canunda National Park in the State’s South East after it’s believed his car broke down last night.

Police were called to the National Park about 10.15pm Tuesday, June 12, after a relative contacted police stating they had received a phone call from the missing man saying he had had car trouble.

Police and SES crews commenced searching for Michael Reid, 37, and his black 4WD Landrover Discovery, Victorian registration 1ED9SX, last night however called off the search around 4.30am today.

The search involving police and SES will resume this morning. Anyone who spots Michael Reid or his car is asked to contact the Police Assistance line immediately on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000).
