Uncle Rob's Indigenous art to go on show

An indigenous artist will have a unique exhibition of his works at the Naracoorte Hotel on July 21-22.

“Uncle Rob”, who lived in Naracoorte for many years and now operates Uncle Rob’s Walkabout Gallery in Kingston, will have about 40 pieces on display, with all of them for sale.

He has been painting for about 40 years, devoting more time to the hobby since opening his gallery about 12-14 months ago.

About 90 per cent of his artwork is dot painting, a traditional Aboriginal method which he says is a dying art.

The works at the Naracoorte exhibition will range in size from standard photo size right up to large 2m x 2m pieces.

Uncle Rob’s works have been bought by people in all parts of Australia, and have caught the eye of international visitors, going to Germany, Sweden, India and the US.

Uncle Rob is planning to hold another exhibition in Naracoorte at the Kincraig Hotel in about a month’s time.
