Monday night saw action aplenty at the Crown Inn in Kingston SE, when 20 gentlemen shaved their hair for a great cause.
Sarah Revie, daughter of Aaron and Janie Revie, who have been working in the town for the last two years, has just begun chemotherapy on stage 4 advanced Hodgkins lymphoma cancer. At just 23, the young delivery manager has a long battle with a minimum of six months of chemotherapy treatment in front of her.
There were mohawks, mullets and many skinheads produced on an evening that saw community generosity at its finest.
Local hairdressing legend Karley Saltmarsh from Club Cuts was on hand to do the hard work, and everyone was very appreciative of her work.
No one was spared, from random contractors simply staying the night in Kingston for work, to local butcher Luke Kompo and even the publican Tom Gardner and his co-workers Scott Lambden and “Whiskas” Hunt.
$50 notes were raining into the donation bucket and when father Aaron ‘Azza’ got into the seat to shave his head for the first time in 20 years the emotion was evident on both his and Janie’s face as well as many of the crowd.
Azza thanked everyone involved, particularly his co-workers Sam Gardner and Tim Albrecht for organising the event, Jason ‘Bones’ Barton for his work on the microphone as well as all of his colleagues and the local community for their amazing generosity.
“Words cannot explain the love and support from all involved, we are just so grateful,” Aaron Revie said.
In total, an amazing $6500 was raised in just a few short hours.
There is also a GoFundMe page for Sarah for anyone who would like to contribute https://uk.gofundme.com/7ncr4x-head-shave-for-sarah. As you can see from the photo, Sarah was the first to shave her head, in readiness for her treatment.
