Kingston community asked to donate to Christmas hampers

The Inter-Church Council of Kingston is once again asking the community to consider donating new toys for Christmas hampers for those members of the community who are in need this festive season.

They can be left at Pinkerton’s Butchers or Elders Robe and Kingston before Monday, December 10. We are also asking for donations of money towards buying the groceries and extra presents that we need for the families.

Donation tins will be at the Council, Chemist, Williams Newsagent and Pinkertons Butchers. On line donations can be made to Kingston Robe Interchurch Council 015-610 account number 5733-32854 indicating for Christmas hampers.

For several years the Inter-Church Council has been carrying out this worthy outreach throughout the community. All the churches provide volunteers with the task of packing the presents or delivering the hampers.

It is a community effort in all senses and those who feel the need to request a hamper are asked to collect an application form from the Kingston District Council Office, Kingston School, Kingston Kindergarten or any of the churches located in Kingston at any time after the publication of this notice. When the forms are completed, applicants are asked to place the forms in an envelope and return them to the Kingston Council Office by 1pm on Friday December 7.

The date for delivery of hampers will be Thursday December 13 between 10am and noon. Please ensure that someone is home as the boxes contain perishables requiring to be placed in the freezer. If someone won’t be present, please let us know before December 13 so that we can make alternative arrangements.

If you have questions re the hampers please contact Bev Heinrich on 08 8768 8055.
