Deputy mayor Peter Riseley has resigned from his position on Robe District Council.

Cr Riseley, a former mayor, wrote a letter of resignation explaining he was currently unable to "perform roles and responsibilities to a level that the community expects", due to health issues.

A new deputy mayor was elected to replace Cr Riseley last night at the August council meeting, with Cr David Laurie chosen.
