Nomads no more
Whyalla News - Louis Mayfield
The small town of Kimba looms large for grey nomads as it took out two titles in the inaugural Grey Nomad Awards which took place on Queensland's Sunshine Coast last week. Judges stated the town was a standout in the category as it exceeded the criteria and embraced the grey nomad experience. South Australia was prominent in the winner's circle, taking out five of eight category awards.

Port Lincoln was hit by bushfire on Monday resulting in some land and structural losses. One woman tells of her family's long fight to save their home from the disaster with the help of the CFS and a helicopter.

A region of the Murray River in South Australia has been declared an International Dark Sky Reserve - the first of its kind in the nation and only the 16th site in the world to cited as such. Around 3200 square kilometres of the Mid Murray region is one of the best places on the planet to see the night sky and the beneifts of this are enormous.

Volunteers from across the country are getting a taste of farming life while helping those struggling with the effects of prolonged drought. One such man is Len Ravesteyn, who has travelled to Cowell to help Alan and Muriel Hunt. He is not only doing a range of jobs but also giving the couple some much needed social contact.
