Rising temperatures to hit South Australia

South Australia set for heatwave

Heatwave temperatures will hit South Australia this week with most regional areas forecasted to register in the low to mid 40s for at least two of the next five days.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology Tuesday will be hot to very hot with a heatwave developing for much of the state, with some coastal sea breezes in the afternoon.

There will be dry and generally very hot conditions on Wednesday as the heatwave conditions continue.

Thursday will be slightly cooler in some coastal towns with fresh winds but inland temperatures will continue to sit on or above 40 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms near the western border and in the far north are predicted.

High temperatures will continue on Friday ahead of a milder, fresh and gusty southerly change developing in the west during the day, extending to central and eastern districts during the evening.

On Saturday there should be major relief from the heatwave over most areas of the state as fresh to strong south to southeasterly winds bring in the cool change.

There could be some uncomfortable nights for towns such as Port Augusta, Wudinna, Renmark and Hawker as minimum temperatures are forecasted to be in the low to mid 20s.
