A forensic examination of the sand dunes at Nora Creina beach was undertaken on Thursday after the discovery of human bones this week.
Police went to the beach near Robe after they were advised of the bones, that were found in the sand dunes, on Wednesday.
Forensic investigators and detectives from Adelaide arrived at the scene in the afternoon to check the area.
Police said that the origin of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their death remain unexplained.
The bones were collected and conveyed to Adelaide for further forensic testing.
The investigation into the human bones is ongoing.
